How to prepare for Chevening scholarship interview

Introduction

Well I will share with you the top tips for Chevening interview from my experience last year while attending the interview. But before that I would like to tell you that I did not get the scholarship so it means that my interview was not the best or maybe the other candidates were stronger than me. HOWEVER I do believe we all can learn from my experience.

What is basically the interview :

Here is the top Tips for Chevening Interview:
1- Candidates must be dressed in formal clothes, such as for a job interview, That's not written in Chevening website, but well it's kind obvious.
2- The interviewers are 3 people, in my case two were native speakers and one was an alumni.
3- Be very polite, they will introduce themselves and give you an opportunity to do the same, I remember I was so nervous that I did not even said "nice to meet you too".
4- They will be very clear and say "we are not here to evaluate your English", even if so remember you are applying to UK, thus is essential showing some confidence while speaking English.
5- They will smile at you and listen patiently EVERYTHING YOU SAY, but do not be so long you can read perfectly in their faces if you are saying something relevant or if you're getting too long or lost, just like at any interview.
6- While you are speaking they will write lot of things over some papers, so do not be scary and do not stop yourself keep talking with focus.

About the questions:

Here are the top tips for Chevening interview regarding the questions:
1- Remember every interview is unique, questions could be the same or no, then we cannot guess what is going to happen.
2- They will ask basically what you wrote in your essays, we had 500 words to write, we couldn't explain with details our ideas or give all examples we wanted, this is the time to show more about yourself, link your essays with other examples is good way.
3- Well be realistic about your plans once you return to your country, I think you need to convince them you can do it, so be sure you have a good and possible plan and how that plan can help your country and also UK.
4- Be ready for questions like "why should I invest on you?" It might happen or not (It happened to me)
5- The scholar biography questions were some of the questions they asked me, you have just 25 words to answer, I think is good if you can have them in your mind with a little more property (rather than just 25 words).
6- Read about your universities and it is good to know some nice examples of people who studied there and why you have chose these 3 universities.
7- Look after some alumni from your country and what they became, it is nice if you could find some who studied at the same university as you have chose.
8- They asked me also about my leadership role in my community, my suggestion is read your essays and find how you mentioned the leadership role in your country/community and also have in mind leaders which changed your country or world that you admire and why you do so.
These are the top tips for Chevening interview that would help you to join the interview with strong background.
As I  said before I will repeat again I was not a Chevener, that means I will need to improve my performance as candidate, these are points which I passed through and I wanted to share with you, because failure helps us to become better.
I do hope that could help all of you people!
